The spirituality of one’s relationship with water is in many ways tied to the creation of life on earth itself. In the Bible, in Genesis 1:2, following God’s creation of the heavens and the earth there was mention of the Spirit of God hovering over the water. As the account of the creation of earth progresses, it is mentioned in Genesis 1:6 that there was a vault created between the waters to separate them. This was then known to be the sky. Following the creation of the sky. Land was created to “let the water under the sky be gathered to one place” as it says in Genesis 1:9. The existence of earth as we know it began with water. ​​​​​​​
